WS CAN is hosting their first-ever networking event for all types of cyclists here in Winston-Salem on Friday, May 11th at 6:30pm.
Cycle Net is about bringing together local riders, from all backgrounds, to mingle, learn about all that Winston-Salem has to offer bicyclists, and find out how to get involved in making our city more bike friendly.
And it’s not just for bicyclists. We want local community leaders, business owners, and elected officials to join the fun so they can learn more about benefits of bicycling and hear from our local riders on what we need and want for safer, more enjoyable riding in Winston-Salem.
It’s also a place for people new to cycling or who are interested in giving it a try because they can meet local riders, ask questions, and learn some great tips for getting started.
There will be food, drinks, and some awesome guest speakers. We’re excited to announce this event’s line up…
Jon Hamblen is a coach, studio instructor, and owner of Velocious Sports. He’s been involved in cycling for many years–building teams, coaching juniors, collegiates, pro racers and even doing some racing himself. He will be sharing info about his work with Tanglewood BMX and junior racing.
Winston-Salem native, Travis Livermon is a professional cyclists with a long list of really impressive finishes from representing the US in the World Championship CX race to recently winning the Pisgah Stage Race. He will be talking candidly about his life as a pro cyclist; training, traveling, winning, and more.
Evan Koff is a Transportation Planner for the City of Winston-Salem. His work involves planning our local bicycle infrastructure. He’ll be there to tell us more about the bike projects that would be funded by the proposed 2018 Bond Referendum. You don’t want to miss this exciting info.
Cycle Net will be held at The Footnote Cafe. This wonderful bar/cafe/event space, beside Bookmarks book store, just opened up earlier this year and it’s great! They have coffee, signature cocktails, wine, and craft beer in a cozy environment. Free parking is available behind the building, on Holly Street.
To sweeten the pot, all attendees will be entered in to a raffle to win some bike gear. And WS CAN members get a special gift to say thanks for their support.
It’s going to be a great night! We hope you will come out to this first-of-many networking event and bring all your friends.
