Earlier this year, the City of Winston-Salem kicked off the process of updating our Bicycle Master Plan. As we shared in an earlier blog, this document is really important. It covers long term planning and standards for bike infrastructure, city policy and procedure, education and community programing, and more. It lays the groundwork for the type of City Winston-Salem becomes in the years to come. And if you’re like me, you want that to be a bike friendly city.
The professional assessment of our current bicycle network and City policy and procedures has been completed, community input gathered on current conditions and ideas for improvements via public meetings and surveys, and now recommendations are ready to be shared at the upcoming Public Input Meeting on Thursday, August 16th. Stop by the Enterprise Center (1922 S Martin Luther King Jr Drive, W-S) any time between 5:30 and 7:30pm to take a look and share your thoughts.
We need as many people as possible to attend this meeting to review the recommendations and provide input. It’s critical that local cyclists are involved in this process to ensure the new plan accurately reflects the needs and wants of our community.
We hope to see you at the upcoming public input meeting on August 16!
